They have informed how he handled several interim spending bills from last November onwards. They didn’t like that he was willing to put a bill on the floor to help Ukraine. They disagree that he will draft another temporary spending bill in September. They don’t like the way he’s working with Democrats on important legislation. And then there’s the glitch in the shocking 1,500-page interim spending package that Mr… Trump and Elon Musk shattered from afar in December. Johnson then offered President Trump another spending package. This includes raising the debt ceiling. But 38 Republicans voted in favor of the bill.
So Johnson’s tenure was bumpy. And that’s why he was in trouble Friday afternoon during the vote for speaker. Everyone on Capitol Hill was stunned at the urgency of this matter’s conclusion.
Here’s what will happen on Friday at noon:

Acting House Clerk Kevin McCumber will serve as Speaker until the Council elects a Speaker. The first order of business is the “call of the House,” that is, where the House determines the number of elected members. But lawmakers can vote for whoever they want. Including people who are not members of the council. That’s why there have been ballots over the years for Gen. Colin Powell, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., former Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., and former U.S. Inspector General David Walker.
Here’s what Johnson – or anyone else must do – to win the speakership:
The winning candidate must receive a majority of the votes from all members who voted for the named candidate.
Let’s say there are 434 members and everyone votes for someone by name. The magic number is 218. If Johnson gets all 219 Republican votes, he wins. If Johnson gets 218 votes, he wins too. But 217? There are no dice under such circumstances. Johnson likely edged Jeffries 217-215, with the other candidates expected to have two points, but the candidate with the most votes did not win. 217 is not a majority of House members voting. to anyone by name The council must vote again to elect the president.
Fox was told there are 12 to 17 Republicans who could vote for someone besides Johnson. And some Republicans are unhappy with their votes.

Here’s what to keep an eye on: “Current” voting members.
Instead, vote for someone other than Johnson. Some Republicans may protest by voting “present.” “Present” votes do not count against Johnson.
Let’s do some hypothetical calculations here:
Let’s say 434 members vote. Jeffries received the support of all 215 Democrats. Three Republicans voted “present,” in other words, not voting for either candidate. Johnson received 216 votes, he had the most votes. But more importantly Only 431 members voted for someone by name. 216 is an absolute majority of 431. 434 doesn’t matter under these circumstances. Johnson then became president.
But there is a serious danger in voting too “current” Republican.
Consider this scenario:
A total of 215 Democrats voted for Jeffries. But five Republicans voted “present.” Johnson recorded 214 votes. 429 members voted for someone by name. The magic number here is 215. Guess who the speaker is? Jeffries. He collects a majority of all members who vote for the named candidate.
