The suspect accused of burning a woman to death on a New York subway train was a former illegal immigrant deported.

An immigrant from Guatemala has been arrested in connection with the incident in which a woman was set on fire and burned alive on a subway train in Mexico. Brooklyn New YorkOn Sunday he was deported earlier.

Sebastin Zapeta, 33, was arrested by the Border Patrol on June 1, 2018, after he illegally crossed into Sonoita, Arizona. and was deported by the Trump administration just days later on June 7, said Marie Ferguson, a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. told Fox News.

Ferguson added: Zapeta then returned to the United States. illegally “Without knowing the date and place.”

She added that after Zapeta was charged and details of where he was held were released, Enforcement and Removal Actions “A petition will be filed against the immigration detainer along with the NYPD facility where he is being held.”

So far, no charges have been filed against Zapeta. The Kings County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Monday that they “There is no timeline for that,” and “don’t expect a court appearance today.”

Surveillance video shows the suspect calmly approaching the woman. who was sitting still and possibly asleep while on a stationary F train at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station, then set her on fire.

The New York Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s investigation into the victims’ identities.

New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said her clothing “It was all over the place in seconds,” he said of the case. “It is one of the most heinous crimes that one person can commit against another human being.”

He was arrested hours later while riding the same subway line. Tisch added that a person of interest was found to have a lighter in his bag.

“The enormity of this horrific crime is beyond comprehension. And my office is committed to bringing perpetrators to justice,” the DA’s office said. “This horrific and senseless act of violence against a vulnerable woman must be met with the most dire consequences. Every New Yorker deserves to feel safe on our subways. And we will do everything in our power to ensure accountability in this case. I commend the NYPD for moving quickly to apprehend the suspect.”
