Authorities say two men from Portland died while searching for Sasquatch during Christmas week.
Around 1:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. The Skamania County Communications Center received a report on Sept. 24 from a family member of two people who were searching for Sasquatch and disappeared after they planned to return home on Dec. 1, according to the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. Nia (SCSO)

“After a grueling three-day search over difficult terrain and harsh weather conditions, a 59-year-old man and a 37-year-old man, both from Portland, Oregon, have been reported missing/endangered. Has been taken to meet the deceased in A heavily wooded area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest,” the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
“Both deaths appear to have been caused by exposure. It depends on weather conditions and poor preparation,” SCSO added.
A Washington state teen has been charged as an adult in the stabbing death of a 14-year-old who was tied to a cut-open tree.

The sheriff’s office thanks volunteers who spent Christmas week searching for the two men through “Freezing temperatures, snow, high water levels, heavy rain, erosion and heavily forested terrain” prevented the men from being brought home to their families.
“The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office expresses its deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of their loved ones lost in this tragic incident,” SCSO said.

The man’s name has not been released.
