A federal appeals court upheld a jury’s decision Monday that found Donald Trump liable for sexually assaulting author E. Jean Carroll in the 1990s, damaging the president. chosen and leaving him in dire straits to pay the $5 million ordered by a jury.

A three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Monday in an unsigned opinion that Trump has failed to show that. “The district court erred in any challenged decision” and “did not meet its burden of showing that The claimed error or the combination of claimed errors affects his essential rights as necessary to warrant a new trial.”

The decision comes after a jury in New York last year found Trump responsible for sexually assaulting Carroll. The former columnist gave advice to Elle magazine in the dressing room of Bergdorf Goodman in the mid-1990s and later faced defamation charges against her when she came forward. In a separate case, Trump was also ordered by a jury to pay Carroll more than $80 million in damages for defamatory remarks made in his first term in the White House. Although an appeal of the president-elect’s decision remains pending.

The decision was praised by Carroll’s attorney, Roberta Kaplan.

“Both E. Jean Carroll and I are pleased with today’s decision,” Kaplan said in a statement. “We thank the Second Circuit for carefully considering both sides’ arguments.”

Trump’s transition team responded quickly to Monday’s decision. which they pledged to appeal. They also aim at what they refer to as “Political weaponization” of the court as well

“Americans have re-elected President Trump with an overwhelming mandate. And they call for an immediate end to the use of political weapons in our justice system. and swiftly expelled all Witch Hunts, including the Democratic-funded Carroll Hoax group, which will continue to appeal,” said Steven Chung, Trump transition spokesman and director of White House Communications told Fox News in a statement Monday.

“We look forward to uniting our country under the new administration. As President Trump makes America great again,” Cheng added.
