What would it be like to be a Ghoul in Fallout 76?

During a visit to Bethesda Game Studios in London, I spent a few hours running around as Ghoul in Fallout 76, after years of requests from players. The ability to Ghoulify yourself is coming to multiplayer survival games in 2025, along with valuable treasures. New content and features go along with it.

To become a Ghoul in Fallout 76, players must reach level 50 after doing so. They will have access to missions that allow NPCs to transform into Ghoul. During missions, Players are given the option to become a ghoul themselves. You can go back to being human. But it can only be done once for free.

When players become a Ghoul, they can customize their appearance. Including skin color and texture.

Becoming a Ghoul comes with many gameplay changes that will change the way you explore the wasteland. The most important change is that Ghouls are completely immune to the negative effects of radiation. In fact Radiation can actually heal Ghouls and give them buffs. Fallout 76 is adding 32 new Perk cards specifically for Ghouls, which can be combined with existing Perk cards to create a unique playstyle.

Ghoulification Along with the removal of the Hunger and Thirst meters, they have been replaced with a Feral meter which is maintained using Chems. If the Feral meter is depleted, the player will enter feral mode. This causes negative status effects such as reduced accuracy and health. However, players gain bonus melee damage while being ferocious.

Being a ghoul has implications beyond combat, with many NPCs interacting with Ghouls in different ways. It opens the door to a new storytelling path. In particular, the Brotherhood of Steel dislikes Ghouls, which creates new obstacles for players wanting to interact with that faction. During one mission I disguise my Ghoul status to avoid problems with important NPCs. Dealing with the consequences of being a Ghoul is the price players pay for all the privileges. That said, Fallout 76 offers the option of eliminating Ghoul status. and changed back into a human being Players can do this for free only once.
