The Chicago Bears have a chance to tie or win their game against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. But time ran out as they ran out of time to use it.
Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked with 32 seconds remaining, but the Bears curiously didn’t stop the clock.
Williams then completed a pass with seven seconds remaining and took down wide receiver Rome Odunce – the ball hit the turf with the clock at zero. It gave the Lions a 23-20 victory.

But Eberflus had his reasons.

Considering the ball was at the Detroit 41 on the final play. The Bears might have gained one yard. A timeout was then called to attempt a field goal in the game.
But Eberflus said Williams waited too long to make the play – Eberlus wanted the ball up with about 18 seconds remaining, but it didn’t drop for another 11 seconds.
Eberflus defends the decision even though it goes back in time.
“I love what we do there. When the time is less than 12 (seconds), you really have no choice… I think we handled it the right way… It didn’t work out the way we wanted it to,” he said.
It was the sixth loss in a row by the Bears, with each of the last two coming by margins of the field against NFC North rivals.
Meanwhile The Lions are now 11-1, their best start in franchise history, with quarterback Jared Goff catching two touchdown passes, both interceptions against Sam La. Porta finished the scoring with three shots from 6 yards out.
Goff went 21 of 34 for 221 yards with Amon – Rasaint Brown leading the pack with 73 yards on five receptions.

Meanwhile, Williams came back in the second half, finishing with 256 yards and three touchdown passes, Keenan Allen had 73 yards, while DJ Moore finished with 97.
