Castlevania: Ranking the Best Belmonts

Castlevania is a legendary video game IP. And there’s no better testament to that legacy than this year’s Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania DLC. These games speak for themselves, too, such as the games included in the Castlevania Dominus Collection, the only 2024 game I Hit it with a score of 10 after spending a lot of time with these games and thinking about how cool it would be to face Dracula, the Belmont family and their closest friends. It’s only natural to think about who my favorite characters are. Because Castlevania’s timeline is a fun, officially compiled collection of lore. and the densely random tertiary content floating around throughout history. So there is a lot of room for putting real effort into the practice as well. For this item I thought I’d focus on Castlevania’s marquee heroes like the Belmonts, that way multigame ailing players like Alucard can draw attention elsewhere. For now, it’s time to leave it to the supernaturally gifted vampire slayer who Wield the whip (or paddle) and spend time in the sun. To be honest, there aren’t many Castlevania characters who can spend time in the sun. But you understand what I’m saying.

10. Soleil Belmont (Castlevania 2: Belmont’s Revenge)

Next in this list I’ll call Richter. Belmont fans affectionately liking that it is “The Best and Worst of Belmont” It’s a bit of a joke that ties into the context of the legend without detracting from his focus. But more on that later. Our friend Soleil here is The Worst Belmont. He gets credit for the twist in his situation. Unfortunately, Dracula was possessed and tarnished his father’s legacy by causing much chaos and mayhem. And after the fact, Soleil disappeared from history. Ah!

9. Christopher Belmont (The Castlevania Adventure)

It would make sense if Soleil was last on the list. His father Christopher was next up the ladder. Christopher is one of the few Belmonts to fight Dracula twice and win both fights. But because of what happened to Soleil That second dubbing was then removed from Belmont’s book in disgrace. His achievements are impressive, though. But instead they were together with Trevor and Simon. Christopher turns out to be a sad man with the power of a divorced father and sits quietly. At the corner of the family cooking table His first game was pretty mediocre as well. Although the ROM hack DX version is pretty cool.

8. Reinhard Schneider (Castlevania 64)

People have mixed feelings about the Nintendo 64 game Castlevania, but Reinhardt deserves some serious props. This man was part of the Belmont clan. who were the greatest group of vampire hunters ever. But he didn’t get a last name! Imagine being part of a true lineage of heroes. But you accidentally got bullied by the villagers because of your birth certificate. This guy has serious self-esteem issues. But at the end of his story not only does he win the scrap with Drac, but he also saves a super cool vampire girl from the curse.

7. Juice Belmont (weird song written by a deranged nerd)

It is a coincidence that OC ReMix was inducted into the 2024 Shacknews Hall of Fame because I had OC ReMix in mind when compiling this list. This silly song asks a simple question. If Dracula only appears every 100 years, what will the Belmonts do in the meantime? Here’s the answer, courtesy of Shael Riley and, uh, “Disk Mastah Smokabitch.” Juice Belmont may not kill vampires. But he knows what he has to do to keep the prophecy going. Just listen to the song, believe me. This is a slightly less rough remix as well.

6. Simon Belmont (Castlevania: The Battle of Old Castle)

No, this isn’t Simon. famous belmont The leader of the original game and two-time Dracula boxing champion, this is Simon Belmont, an actor from the 1950s who accidentally broke the seal too soon and freed Dracula on the set of the film about his ancestor. his famous Yes, that’s it. It’s a real premise for a true Castlevania story.– A Choose Your Own Adventure style book that actually uses dice for the game mechanics. Instead of selecting and turning pages, that’s neat, too. Despite being an actor rather than an active vampire hunter. But Simon holds his own and even uses a gun to attack werewolves. Sure, this isn’t Canon anymore, but it was considered terrible so it made the list.

5. Juste Belmont (Castlevania: Harmony of Discord)

Of all the Game Boy Advance games, Harmony of Dissonance is my favorite. It is often looked down upon because it is a bit rough around the edges. But I love the weird, melodious soundtrack. Unusual anime structure surrounding Juste’s sprite, twin castle mechanics. And Juste’s cool red coat, a nerd friend. and doesn’t even fight Dracula at the end of the chapter. Still, he stands out for being one of the few Belmonts to inherit magical abilities from the Belnades. I just think he’s neat, okay?

4. Richter Belmont (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood)

This is him at his best and worst Belmont. Richter isn’t easy, friend. He is easily one of the most powerful Belmonts in history. Can use magic to enhance items. Can turn around coolly and extremely handsome But Himbo’s charm in his anime isn’t enough to save him from his own insecurities. This causes him to become possessed and cause serious problems that Alucard has to come in and fix everything. After the events of Symphony of the Night, Richter abandoned his post in shame. Leave the vampire slayer with your friends. in the family and disappeared Taking the name Belmont with it. A man would allow Dracula to torture humanity for 200 years instead of seeking therapy.

3. Simon Belmont (Castlevania)

This is what Belmont’s peak performance looks like. no magic no clothes With only rippling muscles and a leather skirt, Simon Belmont is a giant slab of meat that disguises himself as a human and more or less beats Dracula with his bare hands. Then Dracula returns for round two. Seriously injuring and cursing Simon at the same time. Simon compensates for his newfound weakness by donning armor this time. Then complete the entire second mission to bring Dracula back together and fight him again. Still bashing him deftly even after dying of demonic cancer. Icon

2. Trevor Belmont (Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse)

How did Trevor surpass Simon? He is the first Belmont to actually kill Dracula. Second, he has movie star status due to his lead role in the anime series. The performance was so good that it put Castlevania back on the map and helped bring Konami back into video games. Of course, the pachinko controls also help, but Trevor also has the fun part. Plus, Trevor has the cleanest victory over Dracula. He lost for the first time in centuries rather than having to deal with a terrible match later.

1. Julius Belmont (Castlevania: A Song of Sadness)

Julius Belmont as seen in Castlevania Grimoire of Souls

Trevor Belmont wins the first battle against Dracula, but Julius wins the final battle. This man carried the world on his shoulders. and eventually brought the Belmont name back to the forefront when Dracula declared war on humanity in the famous Battle of 1999. Julius Belmont, also known as the Demonic Castle War, helped facilitate it. Convenient in the hopeless ritual which He ends up sealing Dracula and his entire castle in a lunar eclipse. Destroying his appearance forever. All of this happens off-screen too, which is ridiculous, even if it’s overexerted and causes amnesia. But Julius returned decades later to help prevent multiple attempts to bring Dracula back with a new body. I challenge Konami to surpass Julius Belmont or give it a Battle game. of 1999 for us. Both of us would be rad. Thank you.

And with that, the official Best Belmont rankings are complete. Of course, my decision here was correct and flawless. But if you don’t agree Feel free to make your favorite Belmont move up the ranks or be added to the top ten. I’ll consider it sometime. Even though it might be wrong, I’m just kidding. We’re all having fun here. except Richter He’s still sad.

Co-editor

Lucas plays a lot of video games. Sometimes he’s kind of fun. His favorites include Dragon Quest, SaGa, and Mystery Dungeon. He has too much ADHD to care about the world’s creation lore. But it will get lost in essays on themes and characters for days. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Which makes conversations about Oxford Commas awkward to say the least. Not a trophy hunter But won Sifu with a vengeance and got 100 percent in Rondo of Blood because of the rules. You can find him on Twitter. @HokutoNoLucas I’m sultry about Square Enix’s rhetoric and say nice things about Konami from time to time.
