“Cheers” star Ted Danson and his wife Mary Steenburgen’s date nights look a little different in their 70s.
During an interview with populationDanson explains that couples, who will be celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary next year, prefer spending time together early in the morning rather than on a romantic date night.
“Date night was like a special date at my age,” Danson, 76, told the outlet.

He continued: “The funniest things are early mornings, 4:30 a.m., sipping coffee in bed, playing Wordle, Connections and Spelling Bee, talking, laughing, and sharing.”

Despite the couple’s busy schedules, Danson said the distance didn’t prevent him from having a sweet morning with the 71-year-old Steenburgen.
“Even though she works in a different time zone. We would wake up in time to play our games and drink coffee on the phone,” he said.

Danson told the outlet that part of the reason he cherishes these moments with his wife is because they didn’t meet until later in life. when they met Steenburgen and Danson are both 40 years old and were previously married.

Danson was first married to Randy Danson in 1970 before separating in 1975. He married his second wife, Casey Coates, in 1977, and they divorced in 1973; They have two daughters, Alexis and Kate.
“About a year ago I decided I wanted to be a more emotionally mature and honest human being,” Danson recalled before meeting Steenburgen. “I worked really hard, or Mary Steenburgen wouldn’t even see me.”

Because Danson is dedicated to being his best self afterward, he told People that he’s pretty sure his relationship with the “Elf” actor wouldn’t have worked out had they met earlier.

“The answer is guaranteed to be no. I will speak for myself,” Danson said, “I was not fully infused with emotion until shortly before I met Mary… Thank God we didn’t meet before.”
Steenburgen and Danson married in 1995 after first meeting on the set of “Pontiac Moon” in 1993.

In 2019, the actor shared that Close every week He still loves his wife dearly.
“We literally wake up and celebrate every day,” the star told the outlet. “If we didn’t, we’d be idiots because we’re so lucky. We have great kids and grandkids and we have each other. We love each other like crazy.”

Danson credits his upbringing for inspiring his happy union with the actress.
“I consider myself a family person. Part of it is because my parents did such a great job,” Danson said at the time about his parents’ nearly 40-year marriage.

Danson also revealed that he and Steenburgen were ready to start a new chapter in their lives when they first met.
“We met when I was 45 and she was 40,” he explains. “We had been living for a while. We both stared at the demons within us. And it was lucky that we met then.”
