Costco may switch to Coca-Cola in food courts by 2025

Social media is abuzz with rumors that Costco may switch to Coca-Cola products in its food courts in early 2025.

The news was first reported by the website Costco Insider on December 1, in a September 17, 2024, post on his Instagram account.

“After more than a decade, Costco has transitioned from Pepsi to returning to Coke products in its stores,” the post said. “The change will replace Starry with Coke, Coke Zero and Diet Coke, as well as Sprite.”

Costco switched from Coca-Cola products to Pepsi products in 2013, according to a Costco Insider post, “as a cost-saving measure to preserve the famous $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.”

Matt West, editor of Costco Insider, told Fox News Digital on Friday that his publication heard the news from “multiple sources.”

“Personally, We are very excited about the changes. After being Costco fans, we were very disappointed with the changes 11 years ago,” said West, who is based in California.

West doesn’t appear to be alone in his feelings.

He told Fox News Digital that his publication “We were surveyed by our followers and 87% preferred Coke over Pepsi. So it seems like most Costco members feel the same way we do.”

The switch to Coca-Cola “is expected to occur in early 2025,” Costco Insider said.

“Coke is paying more attention to the quality of the product that comes out of the machines. Including guidelines for maintaining machines syrup blends and more to ensure Costco customers continue to have an excellent experience,” the publication said in a 19-post statement about the rumors.

Many people shared their excitement on social media about the prospect of getting a Fountain Coke from Costco’s food court.

“Diet Coke!! I used to drink at Costco all the time but haven’t bought one since switching to Pepsi!,” one Instagram user said in response to a Costco Insider post.

“Thank God. Sorry Pepsi. But Coke products taste better,” another person commented.

“Sorry, Pepsi. But Coke products taste better.”

Most users of the Reddit page dedicated to Costco gossip were similarly excited about the rumored change.

“This is probably better than not being a prank on a fool in December. So help me god,” Reddit user “msrubythints” wrote.

“This makes my day. I always say the one downside to food courts is Pepsi,” user “joekd713” said.

“I don’t even pick up the cup when I get a hot dog! I would be very happy if they went to Coca-Cola,” replied user “Comfortable_Ad7922.”

However, at least one Reddit user He seemed saddened by the rumors.

“I think I’m the only one in this sub who’s really upset about this news lol,” Reddit user “No-Pangolin-7571” wrote.
