A Georgia homeowner has been arrested and charged with criminal trespass. After she tried to move back into her own home where there are reports of intruders living there, according to WSB-TV.
“Seeing that woman walk into my mother’s house while I was in the police car. There’s something wrong with this picture. There is something wrong with this picture,” said homeowner Loletha Hale. told WSB-TV–
The incident happened on Dec. 9 after Hale reportedly returned to her home to clean up. After a judge ruled in her favor against Zakemeyia Johnson, who was accused of squatting. for many months
According to WSB-TV, police said Hale “Carry out an illegal eviction and forcibly remove Mrs. Johnson’s belongings.”

“I spent the night on a mat on a concrete floor in terrible conditions. Meanwhile, this woman, this squatter, was lying in my house,” Hale told the outlet.
Police confirmed to the judge that Hale did not have one. There was a “signed warrant of possession” that would allow Hale to legally evict Johnson.
“You can’t keep up. She took this man with her. And I locked the door I locked the screen door And he forced himself to tell us to get out,” Johnson told police about the incident.
Hale told the outlet that she thought Johnson had moved out of the house after her victory in court in November.

“I came back on Monday to start painting. And she broke my house key,” Hale said.
Johnson has not been charged with any crimes, according to WSB-TV.
Georgia has had more intruder cases go to court in recent years.
A Pacific Legal Foundation report found a trend toward an increase in squatter cases being brought to court starting in 2019. The number of these cases in Georgia increased from 3 in 2017 to 50 in 2021.
In 2023, there were 198 civil cases related to squatting in the Peach State, according to the report.
The Clayton County Police Department did not immediately return Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
