A Florida man is accused of breaking into a home he found bare of trees and carrying a carpet cleaner. Even though he claims he doesn’t remember because he took amphetamines.
Austin Alexander Smith, 23, is charged with burglary of a foreclosed home. and was booked into the Polk County Jail.
Winter Haven police said residents of the home at 6 Southwest Street in Winter Haven, Florida, were suddenly woken up Thursday around 1:36 a.m. by a loud noise at the front door.

The resident then found Smith in the living room wearing only a shirt but no pants or shoes while holding a carpet cleaner belonging to the resident in his hand.
One of them shouted at Smith. Then he dropped the carpet cleaner and ran out the door.

A few minutes later Police later found a person matching Smith’s description. was walking in the area of Avenue M and 5th St. The suspect was detained by officers. And the resident later identified the suspect who broke into his home.
Smith broke into the home by kicking the door, police said.
