A Maryland man was arrested after disrupting two local churches’ Christmas Eve services, including pouring whiskey into holy water.

The Saint Mary County Sheriff’s Office announced that Thomas Campbell Bolling von Goetz, 56, of Avenue Road. He was arrested and charged with several offenses. After he caused an incident during a religious ceremony and put people in danger.

It was shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Officials said that the Getz entered Holy Angels Catholic Church on the street during mass. and approached the altar and dropped an onion on the walkway. which disturbs the peace of those attending the ceremony

Authorities said a witness followed Von Getz as he left the church to make sure he was leaving and saw him then attack another person by throwing a tangerine at him.

Von Goetz was then transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

On December 26, 2024, officials said Von Goetz was arrested and charged with second degree assault, disorderly conduct, defacing religious property, committing a religious crime against a group of persons, obstructing religious activity, harassment. violence and disturb the peace
