MSNBC host Joy Reid and her prime-time colleagues have faced brutal viewership declines since the election.
“The ReidOut” has dropped 47% in viewers, averaging just 759,000 viewers, after averaging 1.4 million viewers throughout 2024 leading up to Election Day, according to Nielsen Media Research.
Reid is increasingly losing viewers in the 25-54 demographic that advertisers are seeking. It has lost a whopping 52% of its audience, currently only 76,000 viewers of its main demo.

Reid’s primetime colleague MSNBC has also suffered severe viewer losses over the past month. The network’s primetime shows lost a whopping 53% of their total viewers, averaging 621,000 viewers, and an astonishing 61% of their viewers in the main demo, averaging 57,000 viewers.
Rachel Maddow, MSNBC’s biggest star, airs only on Mondays. It went from averaging 2.4 million viewers before the election to averaging just 1.4 million, a 43% drop. Her viewership decline among viewers in the primary demo was even more severe. Losing 56% of its viewers, averaging 103,000 viewers, Maddow was MSNBC’s only primetime host to maintain six-figure viewership in the main demo.

“All In” host Chris Hayes also lost 56% of his core demo audience in the 8:00 PM ET time slot, averaging just 73,000 after he averaged 166,000 before the election. Hayes shed more than half his viewers. One, from 1.5 million people, there are only 728,000 people left.
MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, who replaces Maddow’s 9:00 PM ET time slot Tuesday through Friday lost more than half of her total audience. An average of just 660,000 people since the election. and lost nearly half of her main demo audience, averaging 72,000.
Lawrence O’Donnell, host of “Last Word,” was also popular with viewers. It has averaged just 930,000 total viewers since the election and 78,000 in the main demo. with a loss of more than 40% in each metric.

In addition to declining viewership, MSNBC’s future remains uncertain. This is because parent company NBCUniversal plans to spin off the liberal network and other cable channels. In the coming year It will be separated from its NBC News affiliate. One network insider previously told Fox News Digital that no one was sure if MSNBC would keep the name.
