Joe Rogan has argued that the establishment media, once friendly to President Donald Trump, has engaged in “psy-op” for years to convince Americans that he is dangerous.
“The Joe Rogan Experience” is one of the most popular podcasts in the world, and Rogan is seen as one of the key players in the 2024 election thanks to his interview with Trump. Then backed his presidential bid at the 11th hour. Since then, the podcaster has ridiculed the media for losing credibility with voters. and alienates fellow liberals like him.
On Thursday’s episode Joined by comedians Shane Gillis, Mark Normans and Ari Shaffir, Rogan recounts how Trump was once friendly to people in the entertainment and media industries. It showed clips from his 2012 appearance on “The View” where he received cheers, including when he approached Oprah. And she asked him about running for president.
Since then, “The View” has become a frequent source of news about Trump. And Oprah blasted him while campaigning with Vice President Kamala Harris. Rogan argued that the sudden change in tone towards Trump was shocking in retrospect. “What we saw was the greatest media release in history.”

Podcast hosts continue to use traditional media.
“What you saw with Trump? Regardless of his flaws It was a very intense brainstorming session,” Rogan said. “They distorted who he was to the point that most people thought that way. Most people think like that. They have stories.”
“What is Psy-op? I hear that all the time,” Normand said.
“A mental operation,” Rogan explains, “where they have decided to distort people’s perceptions of things.”
Shaffir responded that older liberals were shocked when they heard former President Obama oversees more deportations than Trump. “They go, ‘That doesn’t make sense,’ and you go, ‘Oh yeah, focus on what makes it. You see the reality of the world,’” he said.

Rogan then turned to Jamie. His producer and asked him to bring up a “wild” quote from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from 2008 in which she was “talking MAGA-type s—” about “illegal immigrants.”
Clinton could be heard on a tape recording declaring that “I think we have to have tough conditions. Tell people to come out of the shadows. If they commit a crime Deport them without asking questions”
“She’s a Republican,” Shaffir joked.
In the recording, Clinton continued: “If they work and abide by the law, we should say, ‘These are the conditions for you to live. You have to pay heavy fines because you came here illegally, you have to pay back taxes, and you have to make an effort to learn English. And you have to wait in line’.”
Guests expressed shock at Clinton’s past comments.
“’You’ve got to get in line’ and everyone was cheering,” Rogan said. “It was 2008, Hillary Clinton was more MAGA than Trump, but so what? More MAGA than Trump? It’s all a f—ing illusion. It’s all a f—ing illusion, when it’s convenient to say so. Exactly the same thing.”

Rogan argued that this election shows that the tide has turned.
“They controlled the media until now. This election is the first time they no longer control the media,” Rogan argued.
When asked why this is the case? The host responded, “Because of us, because of the podcast. Because of social media, because of X.”
