The Lions clinched a playoff spot and could clinch the top spot in the NFC with two more wins, but in the event Jared Goff goes down, they want to go with someone with experience. Hendon Hooker serves as Goff’s backup throughout the season.

Bridgewater served as a backup for the Lions last year.

Bridgewater was a first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2014 and has started 65 games throughout his NFL career. He spent two seasons in New Orleans as Dan. Campbell is an assistant for the Saints.

Campbell spoke highly of his relationship with Bridgewater during a media release Thursday.

“I have been in contact with Teddy for some time. And it is always possible. And we all know what Teddy does there and gives back to his community. And they won a championship there, so his first coaching session worked out pretty well,” Campbell said.
