Earlier this month, Eli Manning learned he was one of the semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s modern class of 2025. The two-time Super Bowl champion, who retired after the 2019 season, made the list. Be on the list in the first year of eligibility
But this week Hall of Fame voters expressed dissatisfaction with the idea that Manning would receive enough votes to become an official member of the Class of 2025. “The general consensus seems to be that Manning will eventually get into the Hall, even though he doesn’t. This year” voters told ESPN–
Applicants must reach the 80% threshold of the selection committee to be eligible to vote. But Manning’s candidacy proved polarizing.

There are several arguments that can arise when suing or opposing a retired quarterback. He showcased his ability to play at an elite level during his aforementioned run to a Super Bowl title. They scored a combined 15 touchdowns against just one interception during those seasons.

Controversy surrounding Manning’s candidacy includes the fact that he was never named to an All-Pro team during his playing career. Manning competed in an era that included Tom Brady, his brother Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers. The absence of at least one All-Pro nod could have a major impact on some voters.
Manning also finished his career with a regular season record of 117-117. Many star quarterbacks and Hall of Famers finished at least one season at the top of the NFL in touchdowns or passing yards. Manning never accomplished one of those feats.
However, he had the most interceptions in the league in three separate seasons. Manning retired from the NFL with 244 career interceptions.
But only a few dozen quarterbacks have won multiple Super Bowls. And Manning is one of that special group.
It’s possible that Manning will eventually become a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But it is still unclear how long he will have to wait to receive the gold jacket.

The Hall of Fame Selection Committee will whittle the semifinalists down to 15 finalists soon after another round of elections. A list of 10 finalists will be revealed. Finally, seven groups of finalists will be announced.
Each board member will be allowed to select five names from seven for the final vote.
