Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, said her members are indifferent to the prospect of the Department of Education being abolished.

In an interview with MSNBC on Sunday, Leaders of the second-largest teachers union in the country were asked to respond to President Donald Trump’s nomination of WWE co-founder Linda McMahon to lead the Department of Education.

Corey DeAngelis, senior fellow at the American Culture Project, told Fox News Digital that Weingarten may have “misread the bill.”

“Maybe she misread the bill. It sends money back to states in the form of Block Grants to be used for education,” he said. “Even a broken clock is correct twice a day. I’m glad Randi Weingarten and I agree. In one matter That is, it is time to clean up the bureaucratic mess that is the Ministry of Education.”

He continued, “If even Randi Weingarten were open to this idea. Hopefully some Democrats in Congress will join the majority party. The Ministry of Education is an unconstitutional waste of time and money. Let’s get rid of bureaucracy and deliver education. Return to the states That will eliminate waste and allow for more local control.”

Trump signaled during the campaign that he supported abolishing the department. He said he would prioritize. “Closing the Department of General Education” in Washington, D.C.and return all necessary academic and educational work back to the state.”
