Rabbi Zvi Kogan is an ambassador for the Chabad Lubavitch movement, a prominent and highly observant branch of Hasidic Judaism based in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City.
The 28-year-old was living in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates when he disappeared on Thursday. He is a citizen of both Moldova and Israel.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Kogan works as a realtor and “Passionate about volunteering and serving (his) community.”

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced an investigation into the unusual disappearances on Saturday. At the time, a statement said the disappearances appeared to be related to “Terrorist incident” but did not provide further details.
