Christmas Eve also marks the beginning of the Vatican’s Holy Year. Around 32 million pilgrims are expected to travel to Rome throughout 2025.
The Pope will open the holy doors of the saints. St. Peter’s Basilica on Christmas Eve and December 1, the 26th, he will go to Rome’s main prison to begin the Holy Year there.
